AES Andes, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation, has submitted its Solar Oriente photovoltaic park project to the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) of the Tarapacá region in Chile.
The estimated value of the investment is $990 million. The project will feature a 581.46 MWp solar park and an 809.22 MW battery storage system (BESS) capable of providing energy into the National Electric System (SEN) for up to five hours.
The site will be located in Pozo Almonte, Tamarugal province, covering nearly 4 square kilometres. Construction is expected to start on October 1st next year and, if it's approved, employ up to 638 workers during construction and 61 permanently once operational.
