Genneia Strengthens Its Leadership in Argentina’s Renewable Energy Sector

3.89 TWh Generated in 2024, Avoiding 1.73 Million Tonnes of CO₂ Emissions

Genneia, Argentina’s leading renewable energy company, has reinforced its position as the dominant player in the sector throughout 2024, securing 19% of the country’s installed renewable capacity. With a strong commitment to the energy transition, the company produced 3,898,993 MWh of wind and solar energy—equivalent to the annual consumption of almost one million homes, according to data from CAMMESA.

The environmental impact of this production is substantial: 1.73 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions were avoided, solidifying Genneia’s role in the fight against climate change.

📌 Key Highlights:

- Record production in November: 393,520 MWh generated.
- Wind energy leadership: 21% of national generation.
- Madryn Wind Farm: Argentina’s largest, producing 937,077 MWh in 2024.
- Solar market share: 12% of the country’s photovoltaic generation.

With these figures, Genneia continues to drive Argentina’s transition towards a cleaner energy future.

Expansion and Sustainable Finance

Genneia’s growth extends beyond energy production, with strong financial backing and an ambitious expansion strategy.

Green Bonds and New Investments

In 2024, the company issued four Green Bonds totalling $142 million, bringing its cumulative sustainable financing to over $850 million since 2021. This reinforces investor confidence and ensures the resources needed for future developments.

Additionally, Genneia secured a $100 million international loan with a 10-year term, backed by leading global financial institutions, to support new solar projects across Argentina. This funding highlights Genneia’s strength in capital markets and its ability to drive large-scale renewable projects.

New Wind and Solar Developments

One of the most significant milestones of the year was the launch of the "La Elbita" Wind Farm, located in Tandil, with a capacity of 162 MW. This marks the company’s eighth wind farm, bringing its total installed capacity to 1,166 MW.

At present, Genneia is actively developing two major solar projects:

  • Malargüe I (90 MW)
  • Anchoris (180 MW)

These additions will bring Genneia’s total installed capacity to over 1,400 MW, further cementing its leadership in Argentina’s renewable energy market.

Corporate Partnerships and the Road to Decarbonisation

As companies accelerate their transition to clean energy, Genneia has become the partner of choice for over 50 corporate clients seeking to reduce their carbon footprint.

"Businesses are increasingly prioritising efficiency and competitiveness in their operations," the company stated in its announcement.

This growing trust is reflected in long-term renewable energy supply agreements, positioning Genneia as the leading provider for industries aiming to decarbonise their operations and align with global sustainability targets.

Looking Ahead to 2025: Doubling Solar Capacity & Further Expansion

Genneia is set to double its solar generation capacity in 2025, further reinforcing its leadership in the renewable energy sector.

🔹 Innovation and sustainability will continue to drive its expansion.
🔹 Infrastructure development will remain a core focus.
🔹 Greater environmental impact, with further CO₂ emissions reductions.

With 13 years of experience in renewable energy, Genneia is not only consolidating its position as Argentina’s foremost renewable energy company, but also emerging as a key player in Latin America’s energy transition.
