Mykonos: Sun, Fun and Solar Energy
As Mykonos buzzes with summer fun and tourists, there’s another exciting development on the island – the 35 MW Mykonos solar project. This renewable energy venture, acquired by Faria Renewables S.A., promises to bring significant environmental benefits to central Greece. The project is already under construction, with completion targeted for Q4 2025.
Clean Energy Production: Powering 13,125 Homes
With a substantial investment of €27 million, the Mykonos solar project is expected to generate 52.5 GWh of clean energy annually. That’s enough to power 13,125 households in the areas of Domokos and Farsala. Domokos, known for its agriculture, is dependent on a reliable energy supply, and Farsala, famous for its traditional halva produce, will benefit substantially from this renewable energy boost. This project, previously owned by the Vasileiadis Group, agrees with Faria Renewables' strategy to include ready-to-build projects in its portfolio, thereby supporting Greece’s energy transition.
Enhancing Greece's Sustainable Energy Infrastructure
Faria Renewables currently has a 3,500 MW portfolio under development across Greece. The Mykonos project joins this extensive list of renewable energy initiatives, adding to the company's already dynamic investment portfolio. Thalia Valkouma, President and CEO of Faria Renewables, stated that the diversification of energy storage systems is an essential requirement for sustainable and secure energy provision.
Brightening the Future with Green Energy
Soon, this beautiful island will shine even brighter with green energy, making Mykonos a beacon of sustainable development. Beyond sunny beaches and vibrant culture, the inhabitants of this beautiful island can now also boast about their part in developing a greener future for Greece. With this project, Faria Renewables is increasingly important as a partner for Greece in the roll out of clean and renewable energy to local communities.
