The Government of Serbia has entered into a strategic agreement with the Hyundai Engineering-UGT Renewables consortium for the development of solar power plants with a total connection capacity of 1,000 MW. The project, which also includes battery storage systems of up to 200 MW/400 MWh, marks a significant step in Serbia's renewable energy expansion.

The partnership, signed by Serbia's Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović, EPS General Manager Dušan Živković, UGT Renewables CEO Adam Cortese, Hyundai Engineering President Hyeon-Sung Hong, and Strategic Manager Sang Min Park, underscores Serbia’s commitment to clean energy.

The signing ceremony, held at the Serbian presidency building, was attended by President Aleksandar Vučić, US Ambassador Christopher Hill, and Minister-Counsellor Jung Woo Lee of the Republic of Korea.

This agreement follows Serbia's decision in November 2023 to select the Hyundai Engineering-UGT Renewables consortium as its strategic partner for developing solar power plants and battery storage. The government also approved plans for six solar facilities across Serbia, with projects ranging from 35 MW to 461 MW in connection capacity.

Once completed, the plants will be handed over to the state utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), further bolstering Serbia’s energy independence and sustainability efforts.
