The Colombia Energy Transition Summit 2025 wrapped up after two impactful days, where leaders from the energy sector, government, and sustainability industries gathered to discuss and shape the future of Colombia’s energy landscape. The summit focused on green hydrogen, energy efficiency, and sustainable mobility, with expert discussions and valuable insights shared throughout.

The first day of the summit kicked off with Andrés Pesca Ayala, Chairman of the event, who set the tone by emphasising Colombia’s ambitions to lead the energy transition in the region. The Energy Leaders Forum featured influential figures like Carlos Adrian Correa-Flórez, Luis Alvaro Pardo Becerra, and Mónica Gasca, who discussed the role of public-private partnerships in advancing low-carbon energy solutions. Mónica Gasca stressed, “The collaboration between the public and private sectors is crucial for creating a sustainable and efficient energy future for Colombia.”

Later sessions delved into the financial aspects of Colombia’s energy future, with discussions on how to secure funding for the energy transition. The Panel Discussion on Financing the Energy Mix featured insights from KfW DEG, IDB Invest, and FENOGE, focusing on the financial risks and opportunities that lie ahead.

The summit also explored Colombia’s potential in offshore wind energy. Experts like Pedro Jose Gonfrier from AFRY Colombia and Paola Andrea Bautista Duarte from the Ministry of Mines and Energy discussed the regulatory frameworks needed to unlock Colombia’s offshore wind potential.

The second day began with Alexa Oviedo, Chairwoman of Day 2, who highlighted Colombia’s leadership role in the global green hydrogen market. Darwin Clemente Mateus from Ecopetrol provided an in-depth presentation on Colombia’s geological potential for hydrogen production, positioning the country as a future leader in this critical sector.

The Panel Discussion on Colombia’s Regional Leadership in Green Hydrogen followed, with experts discussing the necessary regulatory frameworks to support hydrogen production. Juan David Giraldo from Hidrógeno Colombia highlighted, “The world is shifting towards green hydrogen, and Colombia’s rapid advancements in this sector are setting the stage for regional leadership.”

The summit also tackled sustainable mobility, with a focus on biofuels and urban infrastructure. The Pilot Project Showcase of the First 100% Hydrogen Bus assembled in Colombia marked a significant achievement in sustainable transportation.

The event concluded with a Farewell Lunch, where delegates reflected on the key insights shared and the collaborative efforts required to move Colombia’s energy transition forward.
