Exclusive Interview with MSU- AEW 2024

1) Leadership in Energy Transition:

As a leader in the transition to cleaner and more efficient energy, how has MSU Green Energy influenced the evolution of the energy sector in Argentina? What are the main changes or improvements they have implemented since entering the energy sector?

MSU Green Energy is leading the energy transition by providing innovative solutions to various industries seeking to incorporate renewable energy into their supply matrix and increase competitiveness. Currently, our company is executing an investment plan of over $450 million, contributing to strengthening the balance of the interconnected system and the electricity supply in northern Argentina.

2) Commitment to Sustainability and Efficiency:

MSU Energy is committed to leading the energy transition with lower CO2 emissions and a focus on renewable energy. Could you detail a recent initiative that illustrates how you are advancing towards a more sustainable and efficient energy future?

We are supporting the country's energy transition with the installation of 9 solar parks that will have an installed capacity of 480 MW and the development of a pipeline of over 1000 MW of renewable projects. Our first solar park, located in Las Lomas, La Rioja province, has been operational since the end of 2023, and our second solar park, located in Pampa del Infierno, Chaco province, will become operational next August. The remaining projects in execution will be located in the provinces of Chaco, Formosa, and Catamarca.

3) Community Impact and Social Responsibility:

How does MSU Green Energy align its operations and growth strategies with the needs and progress of local communities? Could you share examples of projects or programs that have had a significant impact on the communities where you operate?

MSU has a strong commitment to the various communities where it operates, promoting local job creation, enhancing individual growth, knowledge transfer, and job continuity. In addition to working with local communities, we collaborate with organizations like Fundación Casaclub, which focuses on labor inclusion. Casaclub Baires is a recognized community day center and mental health rehabilitation model that provides opportunities for social reintegration and access to work, education, housing, and services for a better quality of life.

Currently, we have inclusive job positions at our headquarters and are working on a project to extend this to each park. Additionally, this year we worked with the organization to develop the first sustainable Casaclub. Our team, along with our network of suppliers, designed the architecture and technical development of a project to install solar panels on the organization's terrace to self-supply renewable energy. This project offers a sustainable equation with a triple impact: socially, by creating new meaningful tasks within Casaclub, increasing the number of members per workday, and training members in innovative technologies/trades; economically, by helping the organization reduce its monthly expenses and expand its facilities; and environmentally, by contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gases and raising awareness about the rational use of electricity.

4) Technological Innovations:

In a sector that is constantly evolving with new technologies, how does MSU Green Energy stay at the forefront in terms of technological innovation in renewable energy generation?

We are convinced that technological advances will continue to increase the efficiency and accessibility of renewable energy sources. Our focus is on consolidating and strengthening our network of equipment suppliers while continuing to develop innovative solutions for our clients.

5) Challenges and Opportunities:

In the face of current energy market challenges, what are the main barriers that MSU Green Energy faces in its expansion and operation of renewable energy? And what opportunities do you identify as the most promising for the near future?

The opportunities we identify bring various challenges, and we fully trust in our organization's ability to overcome them. Among these, we can mention accessibility and connectivity, the availability of supporting infrastructure, the saturation of the electrical transmission network, etc. Another challenge we face is having the number of workers needed to build the parks, which in certain locations and projects amounts to 400 people. With the collaboration of local communities, we are making excellent progress and have found a continuity format to streamline the development of the parks. Additionally, another challenge we have overcome is the development of suppliers. For MSU Green Energy, transmitting knowledge and forming reliable, long-term work communities is key to business development.

6) Event Expectations:

As a sponsor of Argentina Energy Week, what are MSU Energy's expectations for this event? How do you plan to use this platform to strengthen your leadership and presence in the renewable energy market?

At MSU, we believe that having spaces for conversation, like this event, helps us gain diverse and valuable viewpoints, contributing to accelerating the energy transition and the development of new renewable energy opportunities for our country.
